On March 30th, the Maersk Venturer drillship successfully spudded an exploration well off the coast of Uruguay. Not only is it the first well to be drilled offshore Uruguay in more than 40 years, it has also set a new world record at 11,191 feet water depth, smashing a record previously set in 10,400 feet off the coast of India. The well is being drilled with a Dril-Quip wellhead system and running tools.
