Dril-Quip Wellhead System Used in Longest Well Ever Drilled in Mediterranean Sea

On May 5, 2015, BP drilled and completed what is claimed to be the deepest well ever drilled offshore Egypt in the Mediterranean Sea with Dril-Quip’s SS-15 BigBoreII-H Subsea Wellhead System. The Atoll-1 well was drilled in 923 meters with the Maersk Discoverer semisubmersible in the East Nile Delta. According to Maersk Drilling, the well was drilled in 234 days, which was 62 days ahead of BP’s AFE target.
